One Donor. One Opportunity. An Nbryo Solution for Elite Genetics

For Mt Walker Clearview Charolais producer Gabby Stokes, the challenge wasn’t identifying elite genetics — it was finding a practical way to unlock them.

Gabby had one prize donor cow, an exceptional Charolais female whose genetic merit was clear. However, despite the quality of her donor, limited access to IVF services meant her potential remained largely untapped.

“I had an elite donor that I simply couldn’t find anyone to do IVF on,” Gabby said.

That changed when Gabby partnered with Nbryo and accessed the Brisbane Valley Donor Centre — a model designed to make advanced reproductive technology accessible, practical and affordable for producers working with smaller numbers of elite donors.

The Challenge: Elite Genetics, Limited Access

For producers relying on a single high value donor, IVF can present significant barriers. Scale, logistics and cost often restrict access, even when the genetics clearly justify investment. With clear breeding objectives and valuable straws of semen from Palgrove Hallmark on hand, Gabby needed a system that prioritised:

  • Donor welfare
  • Convenience
  • Affordability; and a
  • High likelihood of success.

The objective was straightforward: take the genetics from one elite donor and a superior sire, and multiply these across her herd without unnecessary complexity or risk.

The Nbryo Solution: Donor‑Centred IVF

Through the Brisbane Valley Donor Centre, Nbryo provided Gabby with access to a structured, donor focused IVF program, removing the need for on-farm infrastructure or 20+ donors to make it cost effective.

The donor centre model integrates donor management, ovum pickup (OPU), fertilisation, embryo culture and transfer planning into a single, coordinated system. This approach gives producers confidence that each stage of the process is managed consistently and professionally.

“The donor centre concept is the perfect opportunity for smaller producers like me to access the latest technologies to accelerate genetic improvement,” Gabby said. “It’s simple, easy and affordable.”

The Results: Astonishing

Gabby was thrilled to learn that nine Grade 1 embryos had been produced with an Embryo Development Rate (EDR) of 43%, providing both immediate opportunity and future flexibility for her breeding program. And this was done using conventional embryo production.  Nbryo’s multiplication technology may have resulted in 2 to 3 times the numbers of embryos produced ie more than 20 using a single donor and single straw of semen.

Why This Matters

Gabby’s experience highlights how IVF is becoming increasingly relevant for producers who may only have one or two elite females but want to accelerate genetic gain.

By reducing barriers to access and focusing on practical delivery, Nbryo’s donor centre model allows producers to:

  • Generate high quality embryos from limited donor numbers
  • Multiply elite genetics affordably
  • Maintain strong donor welfare outcomes; and
  • Accelerate their breeding programs faster

Looking Ahead

With nine Grade 1 embryos now produced from Clearview Raine, Gabby has established a clear pathway to expand the influence of her favourite donor and strengthen the genetic base of her herd.

For Nbryo, it’s a clear example of what the donor centre model was designed to achieve — making elite genetics accessible, practical and productive, even when there is only one donor to work with.
