More Calves for Less Cost: A Breakthrough in Bovine Embryo Production

For more than 16 years, Nbryo has been working toward a single goal: making advanced cattle reproduction more accessible and affordable. Today, we’re proud to announce a world-first breakthrough that will transform the economics of embryo transfer and accelerate genetic progress across the beef industry.

What’s New?

Nbryo has launched its proprietary embryo multiplication technology, a patented biological process that increases embryo yield while improving Embryo Development Rates (EDR). Unlike conventional “twinning,” which involves manually splitting embryos, our process is not cloning and does not involve embryo splitting. Instead, it multiplies embryos naturally, producing more Grade 1 embryos at a lower cost.

Why Does This Matter?

  • Double the embryos compared to conventional IVF
  • Lower costs: Stage one has already reduced the price of Grade 1 embryos from $180 to an introductory $150, with further reductions expected
  • Fewer resources: Achieve the same embryo numbers using half the donors and half the semen.

The Science Behind the Breakthrough

Associate Professor Margot Day, Nbryo’s Lead Scientist from the University of Sydney, calls this innovation a fundamental leap in reproductive biotechnology. By multiplying embryos and improving development rates simultaneously, Nbryo is making elite genetics more accessible for commercial producers without compromising quality or viability.

What’s Next?

This breakthrough is just the beginning. Nbryo is also developing:

  • An embryo transfer device that allows AI technicians to perform transfers without a specialist ET vet or epidural
  • Additional assisted breeding technologies to further reduce costs and improve efficiency.

Together, these innovations will accelerate genetic gain and reshape the future of cattle reproduction.
